ARD or Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition

Other than a "not guilty" verdict, your best option is the ARD program which is set-up for individuals being arrested for the first time. If you are accepted into the program, you can avoid jail time, a criminal record, and possibly suspension of your license. You never get jail time in the ARD program. Your DUI arrest is automatically expunged if you successfully complete the ARD program. The program includes a short probationary period (e.g. six (6) months), a safe driving class, and payment of fines and costs. The suspension of your driver's license varies from 0-60 days depending on the result of your blood test. (A DUI conviction results in a automatic year suspension of your driver's license and a refusal of a blood test can result in an additional year suspension.)
